Laval homeowners will experience an average increase of 4.8% in their residential municipal tax bill in 2024, Mayor Stéphane Boyer announced in a press release on Wednesday.
This increase represents $162 for the average home.
“Our administration has made every effort to keep taxes below inflation, without compromising services to citizens,” Mayor Boyer said in writing. “The mayor of Laval has ensured that the administration redoubles its efforts and undertakes a vast project to cut its expenses, diversify its revenues and optimize its processes. »
For next year, the Laval administration is committed to “greatly limiting new hires”. It also abandoned a 300 million biomethanization plant megaproject at the start of the year.
The City of Laval will officially present its budget on December 12. Its 2023 budget amounted to just over 1 billion.
