The Festival d’été de Québec sold out less than two hours after announcing the complete program for its 55th edition. While some will pay astronomical sums to get their hands on tickets, others will fill their pockets. This is the case with resellers.

It was also discussed at the microphone of Sophie Durocher via QUB radio. It is a rapidly growing phenomenon. Despite several measures to avoid mass purchases, individuals still manage to get their hands on more than a dozen passes. The objective is obviously to resell them or, even better, to rent them at a price higher than the sale price. This is exactly what Mathieu* does.
“I’m not interested in flipping them at twice the price. I prefer to be patient, do the rental and maybe be able to get quadruple the price,” he explained.
During the Desjardins presale of the FEQ 2023 which took place on Tuesday, Mathieu was able to buy eleven general admission bracelets for the entire event. It cost him $129 each. He teamed up with other people in order to complete his inventory. The next day, three more tickets were purchased for $140. He is therefore in possession of a total of 14 passes. He confessed that he wanted to buy four more, but he was unable to.
“Even me yesterday I got screwed. Usually, I am able to buy some the day after the program is released, but in less than two hours everything was sold”, he testified.
Do the math, fourteen passes purchased for $1839 including tax have the potential to fetch around $7356, so over $5500 in profit. And all that in just 11 days!
