No shared initiative referendum has been successful since 2008
The shared initiative referendum has a binding procedure. It must first bring together 185 parliamentarians, before passing, within a month, through the Constitutional Council. Finally, in nine months he must obtain the support of 10% of the electorate, or nearly 5 million people. Once all these steps have been completed, the French can decide. Since its inclusion in the Constitution in 2008, no shared initiative referendum has been successful.
