We only learn it now: a student missing in Toulouse since August 2019 was declared dead by the courts in August 2020 during a non-public hearing, reports France Bleu Occitanie on Tuesday January 18.
The case had marked the spirits. Étienne Mary, 21, had been missing since falling asleep in a garbage container a year earlier in Toulouse. On the night of August 29 to 30, 2019 exactly, after a party, the young alcoholic man entered a container on rue Matabiau and did not come out before the garbage collectors passed. Footage from a CCTV camera attests to this. The garbage collectors then emptied the contents of the container into the incinerator and the student was never seen again.
After investigation, the justice did not hold any offense and closed the case without further action. No criminal proceedings have been initiated. And according to France Bleu Occitanie, the family, which has never spoken, has also not initiated a civil lawsuit to seek compensation.
