Report of possible drowning | Body found in Verdun

(Montreal) A body was spotted Friday evening near Verdun beach, in the Montreal borough of Verdun, by the Montreal Fire Department (SIM) and the Montreal Police Department (SPVM).

A search was launched after a call was made to 911 around 4:45 p.m. for a possible drowning, reports the SPVM.

The SIM, with the help of the Montreal police, then began a search, dispatching two boats from the nautical service to find the person.

It was finally around 8 p.m. that a body was spotted near the beach. The help of SPVM divers was therefore requested to recover the body in question in order to identify it and determine if it was indeed the missing person.

The SIM reminds that it is essential to swim in areas supervised by lifeguards and to respect the limits of supervised swimming areas. Similarly, the service strongly recommends that people using recreational boats wear a life jacket.
