The franceinfo Talk returns on Thursday evening to the nomination in the afternoon of Michel Barnier to Matignon, more than fifty days after the announcement of the dissolution of the National Assembly by Emmanuel Macron.

France finally has a Prime Minister, more than fifty days after Emmanuel Macron dissolved the National Assembly, plunging the country into an unprecedented political crisis. Michel Barnier, 72, takes over on Thursday, September 5, the seat occupied by his predecessor Gabriel Attal. The former is the oldest Prime Minister of the Fifth Republic, the latter the youngest.

While the right is delighted with his nomination, the left is denouncing a “election [-législative-] stolen from the French“, a ““regime crisis”when some are calling for people to take to the streets on Saturday, September 7.

While the transfer of power is expected at the end of the day on the steps of the Hôtel de Matignon in Paris, the guests of the franceinfo Talk on Twitch answer viewers’ questions live from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
