Repentigny | Bomb threat forces evacuation of high school

Jean-Baptiste Meilleur high school in Repentigny was evacuated Monday afternoon after a bomb threat.

“The triggering of the fire alarm system forced the evacuation of the students of the Jean-Baptiste-Meilleur school, the CFP des Riverains and the La Croisée center around 2:45 p.m.”, indicated on its website the Center de Affluents school service, of which the establishment is a part.

The Service de police de la Ville de Repentigny (SPVR), however, declared that it was more of a bomb threat. Both the School Service Center and the police, however, assured that there were no injuries.

“It almost corresponded with the end of classes, so the students left normally,” said Bruno Marier, spokesperson for the SPVR. “We went around with school staff from inside and outside and to date, there is nothing special,” he added.

“It’s probably a hoax, but hey, that remains to be determined,” he said, adding that an investigation would take place.
