In order to lower the thermometer in interiors, there is a solution: repaint houses and buildings white. A measure that is both economical and ecological.
Imagine the pink city, Toulouse (Upper Garonne)and its famous Capitol, repainted in white. Or the famous zinc roofs of Paris. White makes it possible to store less heat. Among the examples, the houses of the Cyclades in Greece or the facades of the casbah of Algiers the white (Algeria). The idea begins to develop in France.
Aymeric Mouret decided to paint the roof of his shed white to protect his surfboards, swollen by the heat. The result is immediate: we go from 50 to 30°C after just one coat. The white roof technique allows up to 90% of the sun’s rays to be reflected and thus blocks the overheating mechanism inside the building. A Breton company has even developed its own reflective paint. Its natural coating made from oyster shells improves comfort and the energy bill.
