The draw for the second biggest continental competition, Friday August 26, in Istanbul (Turkey) once again smiled on French clubs, the day after a Champions League draw favorable to PSG and Olympique de Marseille. Rennes, Monaco and Nantes avoided European leaders Arsenal, Manchester United and AS Roma.

The Monegasques, eliminated in the round of 16 by Braga last season and who failed to qualify for the C1 in early August, will be opposed to Red Star Belgrade, the Hungarian club Ferencvaros and the Turkish champion, Trabzonspor. In Group B, Stade Rennes, for which it is the fifth European campaign, will challenge Dynamo kyiv – which has just started playing again in its national championship since the start of the war in Ukraine -, Fenerbahçe and the Cypriot club of Larnaca. . Nantes, winner of the Coupe de France and playing its first European competition since the Intertoto Cup 18 years ago, will face Olympiakos, Azerbaijani champion Qarabag and Friborg in group G.

In the rest of the groups, Manchester United notably inherited Real Sociedad. As for the Arsenal players, back in the European Cup after a historic absence last season, they will face PSV Eindhoven, the Norwegians of Bodo/Glimt and Zurich.

The group stage, from September 8, is very tight in the calendar (until November 3) due to the World Cup in Qatar which begins on November 20.
