Stade Rennais will face Shakhtar Donetsk in the round of 16 of the Europa League February 16 and 23, 2023. Announcement made following the draw this Monday, November 7, 2022 in Sion, Switzerland. The first leg will be played in Poland in Warsaw because of the war in Ukraine. The return match will be played at Roazhon Park. The final of the competition will be played in Budapest on May 31, 2023.
Shakhtar Donetsk finished 3rd in their group in the Champions League behind Real Madrid and RB Leipzig with 6 points. There has already been a meeting between the Rennais and the Ukrainians, it was in 2005 during the UEFA Cup.
