René Fasel becomes a consultant for the KHL

The former president of the International Hockey Federation (IIHF), René Fasel, will become a consultant to the Continental Hockey League (KHL), in Russia.

Rumors had been around for some time and the links between Fasel, the IIHF and Russia were never concealed.

Thus, the Swiss will be involved with the best Russian hockey league as a consultant in the strategic management and development of the circuit.

“Fasel has a wealth of experience and is an expert in the hockey world. The league will actively involve him in resolving its strategic and developmental issues,” a statement from the KHL explained.

Fasel, 72, served as IIHF president from 1994 to 2021 and was inducted into the Federation Hall of Fame in 2021.
