Renault bets on hydrogen

According to Deloitte, consumers are not ready to do without their car or their dealership. More than 26,000 motorists were questioned in 25 countries, including France. They therefore remain attached to their vehicle, and preferably thermal. 50% of customers will buy a gasoline or diesel engine. And they are only 7% to want to turn to 100% electric, while the offer continues to increase. Another lesson, the French do not want to pay more for an addition of technologies, apart from those related to security. The study points out that the average selling price is 27,000 euros in France. If we take the case of the electric vehicle, 89% of buyers do not intend to invest more than 50,000 euros and 64% no more than 30,000 euros. In addition, 43% of purchasers of electric vehicles would question their decision if the price of electricity reached the price of gasoline.

Utilities are safer. This is what EuroNCAP tells us.

Pointed out at the end of 2020 for their low level of safety, light commercial vehicles have since raised the bar according to this institute, which carries out more demanding crash tests and assigns its scores also according to driving aids. Of the 19 models rated, the top rated are the Fiat Ducato, Ford Transit, Volkswagen Transporter and Mercedes-Benz Vito. And the worst is the Nissan Interstar, which does not even manage to integrate the lowest category. According to EuroNCAP, commercial vans are being upgraded with more advanced safety systems, closing the gap with passenger cars.

Mazda believes in biofuels

The Japanese firm will participate in an endurance championship in its country of origin with second-generation biodiesel. It is a fuel derived from biomass and which is called Susteo. It will be used on board a Mazda. The Hiroshima firm believes that biofuels are another way to achieve carbon neutrality. Moreover, several Japanese manufacturers believe that synthetic fuels are a way of the future. They want to show it first in competition, then on the road.

And then Renault launches a little more into hydrogen

The diamond brand will reveal a new concept car in May. And what questions is that it uses the term hydrogen motorization. We knew that the diamond wanted to relaunch hydrogen for its utilities. It offers three versions of Trafic, with a fuel cell that complements the battery. But there, it would be a priori a hydrogen combustion engine. A solution that is being talked about more and more, as an alternative to the fuel cell. If this is confirmed, Renault would thus join the reflections of Toyota, which is testing this technological path in competition. In any case, hydrogen will clearly be part of Renault’s strategy, which will be 100% electric in Europe by 2030.
