We’ve been waiting for it for three years: Renaud is finally back! His new album, composed of covers, promises to be absolutely superb. Entitled meticsthis one will contain songs by Georges Brassens, Bourvil or Georges Moustaki, interpreted by the hoarse voice of the “annoying singer“, as he called himself when he started out.
If the album will not be released until May 6, a first extract has already been unveiled, in which the singer resumes If you buy me a drink, by Serge Reggiani. This melancholy air, released in 1975, fits perfectly with the voice and the story of its new interpreter, quite moving. And the clip is just as touching, with the presence of a great French actor.
Indeed, Renaud asked Jean-Paul Rouve to come and play with him in his clip. The two men, seated, share a drink during the three minutes of the song with moving lyrics, since it is the story of a lonely man who is looking for company in a café. “If you buy me a drink, we’ll go all the way / You’ll be my friend for at least a few seconds / We’ll remake the world, oscillating but standing“, sings the interpreter of Winner Mistral, accompanied by a piano. His interlocutor, opposite, does not say a word but the exchange of looks is absolutely overwhelming. The choice of Jean-Paul Rouve owes absolutely nothing to chance since both have been very close friends for many years.
