Rémy Cabella bids farewell to Krasnodar, a Russian club he left due to the war in Ukraine

His contract terminated earlier than expected, when it was due to end next June, Rémy Cabella said goodbye via a message posted on Instagram, this Wednesday. The day after his birthday (32), the attacking midfielder wrote this: “I thank Krasnodar for these three years, I thank everyone at the club for helping me. Thank you to all the players, thank you to all the supporters. Thank you to the leaders and the president for trusting me. With all my heart with you, I love you“.

For its part, still on Instagram, the club based just over 400 kilometers from Mariupol, one of the cities bombed by the Russian armyadvised that the contract had been terminated by a “agreement” and thanked the midfielder author of 17 goals and 10 assists in 62 games : “we thank Remy Cabella and wish him good luck in his future career“.

In recent days, the players’ union (Fifpro) had asked FIFA to allow foreign players released by Russian clubs, due to threat of Ukraine invasion and the war led by Vladimir Putin, to be able to bounce elsewhere to end the season.

A special transfer window is therefore set up until April 7, and the former Hérault, also passed through Saint-Etienne and Marseille, could fly to a new destination in the next few days or weeks. Several European teams are also in the running, while some Paillade supporters dream of a return of the man who left the club eight years ago for Newcastle.

In the meantime, Rémy Cabella has put down his suitcases at Montpellier, in recent days, to receive care. He also visited his home in Corsica or even to Saint Etienne to attend the victory of the Greens against Metz, last Sunday.
