Rémi Goulet will play Gilles Villeneuve in Daniel Roby’s film

Actor Rémi Goulet will play Gilles Villeneuve in Daniel Roby’s film about the Quebec Formula 1 legend.

The production company Christal Films also announced Monday that Rosalie Bonenfant will play the pilot’s spouse, Joann Villeneuve, in this film which has obtained funding from Telefilm Canada and SODEC, in partnership with Bell Media / Crave.

Rémi Goulet, 26, has played in films in particular Living 100 miles an hour (2018), by Louis Belanger, and Major Junior (2017), by Eric Tessier. More recently, on television, he was the brother of Pierre-Luc Funk in the series Forever more one day.

The shooting of the film on Gilles Villeneuve should begin next winter – for the snowmobile scenes, we presume – and continue next year. The film is scripted by Daniel Roby and another director, Guillaume Lonergan (Audrey came back), with “the collaboration of the Villeneuve family”.

Daniel Roby had already directed ten years ago at Christal Films Louis Cyr: the strongest man in the world.

Christal Films has also already produced several biographical films over the past dozen years, including Gerry (Bullet), Louis Cyr And confessions, about hitman Gérald Gallant. Producer Christian Larouche is also currently developing film projects on Guy Lafleur and Diane Dufresne.

Gilles Villeneuve, star of the Ferrari team, died on May 8, 1982, 41 years ago today, in an accident during the qualifying sessions for the Belgian Grand Prix.
