The Toulousains imposed themselves on the lawn of the Irish to join the last European square.
Funny scenario for a place in the semi-finals. Stade Toulousain qualified for the last four of the Champions Cup by eliminating Munster, Saturday May 7, thanks to a penalty shootout (24-24, 4-2). The Toulousains, defending champions, will be able to continue to defend their crown.
To reach the semi-finals, Ugo Mola’s players had to go through extra time and a penalty shoot-out, a rare event in professional rugby. But three Irish failures, including one from Munster’s second shot, put Toulouse in an ideal position. Antoine Dupont, Thomas Ramos and Romain Ntamack took the opportunity to achieve a clear round and send their team to the next round.
The other quarter-finals will pit Stade Rochelais against Montpellier, the English from Leicester against the Irish from Leinster and Racing 92 against Sale.
