A narrow but assured victory. The French women’s team made a successful debut in the Olympic football tournament (Group A) by beating Colombia 3-2 on Thursday, July 25 in Lyon. Led by striker Marie-Antoinette Katoto, who scored twice (6th, 42nd) and by Kenza Dali (18th), the Bleues then gave themselves a scare by conceding two goals.
A two-faced French team. Although Les Bleues went into the locker room with a three-goal lead thanks to a double from Marie-Antoinette Katoto and a sublime strike from Kenza Dali, they gave themselves a big scare in the second half when Colombia scored two goals in quick succession (54th and 64th). The Colombians pushed to score the 3-3 goal, in vain.
A number nine duel. On one side Marie-Antoinette Katoto, striker of the Bleues playing at PSG, on the other Mayra Ramirez, striker of Colombia playing at Chelsea. The two strikers engaged in a duel at distance, with success more in favor of the Parisian. But the Colombian perfectly exploited each of the balls sent to her in depth and made the French hinge tremble. She ended the match sent off for a sole on Selma Bacha (86th).
The Blues are first in their group. Thanks to this victory with three goals scored, France takes first place in Group A, ahead of Canada, who won 2-1 against New Zealand in the 5 p.m. match.
