The tricolor biathlete won the gold medal on the mass start on Friday.

The French women’s biathlon holds its second individual medal at these Games. And this one is solid gold. Thanks to an incredible recovery, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet is became an Olympic champion at the age of 25 on the mass start, Friday February 18, 2022, the last event of the Games in biathlon. With a 16/20 in shooting, the surprise medalist edged out Norwegians Tiril Eckhoff and Marte Olsbu Roeiseland. She offers herself his first individual Olympic medal and the 14th for the tricolor delegation.

Justine Braisaz-Bouchet was however ddistanced after three faults on the two lying shots. Very strong on skis, she took advantage of the difficult weather conditions on the first standing shot to catch up. The other French women Julia Simon, Anaïs Chevalier-Bouchet and Anaïs Bescond finished sixth, 19th and 29th respectively.

France is only one medal away from its record at the Winter Games in Sochi and Pyeongchang (15 medals).
