The shock kept its promises. The France team lost to England (7-13) for its second group game of the Rugby World Cup, Saturday October 15, at the Semenoff Stadium in Whangarei.

In New Zealand, the Blues were unlucky at first with the one-on-one injuries to scrum half Laure Sansus (13th) and third row Romane Ménager (18th). Taking advantage of this double blow, the English opened the scoring with the try from Emily Scarrat (25th), which the striker converted herself. Despite two penalties from Scarrat (39th, 63rd), the French were not discouraged and were able to reduce the score with a good try from Gaëlle Hermet (65th).

Heroic in defense, the XV of France did not know how to find the resources to turn the tide but took a deserved defensive bonus (7-13). This bodes well for Thomas Darracq’s players who will face Fiji on October 22.
