Just over 10 days before the first round of the legislative elections (June 12), France Bleu Normandie has chosen to take an interest in the 4th district of Seine-Maritime where nine candidates present themselves.
This constituency in the south of the department has more than 129,000 inhabitants, nearly 87,000 voters, from La Bouille to Tourville-la-Rivière via Canteleu, Maromme, Grand-Quevilly, Grand-Couronne or Caudebec-lès-Elbeuf.
This Wednesday, France Bleu Normandie has installed its microphones at the Café Blanc in Elbeufat the heart of this popular constituency to question four of the nine contenders for a seat in the National Assembly.
A “decided” rather than “dissident” candidate
The first to intervene this Wednesday, is the socialist mayor of Elbeuf who had to abandon his label to wear the colors “various left”. Djoudé Mérabet has indeed chosen to maintain his candidacy despite the agreement between his party and France Insoumise for the New Popular Ecological and Social Union. (nupes). Agreement which appointed Alma Dufour to represent this union.
But Djoudé Mérabet assumes his choice in the name of his local roots and his proximity to the inhabitants whom he intends to defend in the Assembly. If he is elected, he will not be able to combine his mandate as mayor and that of deputy. He has already made his choice: he will be a deputyhe assures.
Freeze prices to restore purchasing power to the French
Regretting this choice of disunity, the candidate of the New Union of the Left Alma Dufournevertheless considers that its major adversary remains the National Rally, which came out on top in the last two presidential elections. To combat it, she notably wants to restore purchasing power to the French, by voting to freeze prices on basic necessities and energy.
The objective of his party, France Insoumise, remains create a cohabitation by giving a majority to his movement and to ensure that Jean-Luc Mélenchon becomes Prime Minister. “The greatest social advances have been achieved during cohabitation“says the candidate.
The promise of lower taxes
For the candidate of the National Rally, Guillaume Pennelle, the priority is also to restore purchasing power to the French, but the method differs. The leader of Marine le Pen’s party in Seine-Maritime rather proposes lower taxes on basic necessities, energies but also business taxes to allow employers to raise wages.
Guillaume Pennelle is counting on a favorable dynamic in this constituency, which placed its candidate in the lead in the first rounds of the last two presidential elections. Between a divided left, a controversial outgoing MP and the absence of the Republican right, he may have a card to play.
An outgoing MP who highlights her record but does not respond to the accusations against her
She is aiming for a second term. This is the outgoing deputy, from the presidential majority, Sira Sylla. She was elected five years ago in the wake of the election of Emmanuel Macron, bringing down at the same time a historically socialist bastion deemed impregnable. But his working methods have been denounced by several of his parliamentary collaborators. Some of them seized the prud’hommes denouncing acts of moral harassment notably. The MP was convicted once but appealed. Another hearing for similar facts took place at the beginning of May. This time the decision was taken under advisement. These are “dattempts at destabilization“sweeps the deputy who refuses to answer further on these questions.
Sira Sulla prefers to highlight its record and that of the presidential majority. Evoking for example the women’s house which opened in Elbeuf, the “whatever it costs” which protected companies in the territory, the Renault Cléon factory which will benefit from the France 2030 plan.
