A year after his return to Formula 1, Montreal once again hosts the Canadian Grand Prix. In the Great White North, the pilots have an appointment with the Gilles Villeneuve circuit, one of the fastest on the calendar, Sunday 18 June. For his 5th pole position of the season and his 25th career, Max Verstappen (Red Bull) will try to repeat his performance from last year in Montreal. With, in sight, the possibility of equaling the number of victories of Ayrton Senna (41).
Untouchable since the start of the season (five victories in seven Grands Prix), the world championship leader will once again start as the favorite, on the front line, alongside Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin). The Spanish driver, third in qualifying, took advantage of the penalty imposed by Nico Hülkenberg (Haas), second fastest the day before, after a violation of the red flag procedure during qualifying. Esteban Ocon will start sixth on the grid, while his teammate at Alpine, Pierre Gasly, ifwill launch in 15th place.
