After beating England at Twickenham last week, Scotland went for their second home victory against Wales on Saturday in the Six Nations Championship.
In Edinburgh, in their lair of Murrayfield, the Scots struck a blow on this second day of the Six Nations Tournament. By winning against Wales (35-7), Gregor Townsend’s players ended their home losing streak against Leek XV, which had been running since 2017.
30th minute: Turner rewards Scottish dominance
After two penalties from Finn Russell, George Turner came to put his people on track by flattening the ball in the in-goal after getting out of the maul (11-0). A first test deserved in view of the Scottish domination, and validated after using the video.
31st minute: Owens and the Welsh fight back
After a complicated start to the match where they were jostled in all areas of the game, the Welsh regained hope. By taking the option of the penaltouch on a Scottish foul, hooker and captain Ken Owens manages to carry the ball and flatten to reduce the gap (13-7).
51st minute: Russell’s vista
Again more enterprising after returning from the locker room, the Scots increased their lead thanks to a nice movement from Finn Russell, who made his winger Kyle Steyn shine by serving him with a delicious chistera (20-7).
58th minute: the double for Steyn
Same duo, same conclusion. Russell managed to find Steyn with a pass on foot, which went flat without opposition after the exclusion for ten minutes of the Welsh back (25-7).
71st minute: Kinghorn continues the recital
Still at the wand, Finn Russell transmitted to Duhan van der Merwe at the foot. The latter managed to accelerate along the line, before putting away Kinghorn for the fourth Scottish try (30-7).
79th minute: Fagerson for the last slap
Barely a minute before the final whistle, Matt Fagerson came to complete the bill by scoring in the corner the fifth try of XV du Chardon, future opponent of the Blues.
The XV du Chardon had not scored thirty points (or more) against the XV du Poireau for twenty years (30-22 victory at Murrayfield in the 2003 Tournament).
