Laval: in the woods

Use your flashlights! In the company of a biologist, go on an adventure in the forest to spot different nocturnal birds during a guided hike in the Sainte-Dorothée woods. This activity, scheduled for Saturday, March 9, is part of the winter programming of Canopée, the Laval woods network. An exhibition on snowflakes, at Bois Papineau, and winter rallies, near Bois de la Source and Sainte-Dorothée, also promise to entertain families until the end of March.

The SnowPARCours, a creation of Conceptions Snotech

A day in the mountains is fun, but it’s quite expensive. In Longueuil, like other municipalities, since this year there has been an interesting and free alternative solution for snowboarders and skiers who wish to perfect their technique. Built on the practice range of the Le Parcours du Cerf golf club, the SnowPARCours is made up of eight modules, including two jumps. Does your family prefer cross-country skiing? Some 10 kilometers of groomed trails await you nearby.

Experience the joys of the winter outdoors in the heart of the city. This is the idea behind Montréal Boréal, an event that extends over four weekends, from February 17 to March 10, in the Saint-Henri district. Come to Square Sir-George-Étienne-Cartier to take part in the many activities of this second edition. Introduction to snowboarding, cycling with oversized tires and snowshoeing, slides (also accessible during the week) and games for children are part of the program, which changes from one week to the next. In the evening, a heated dome hosts various musical performances.

The ice rink at Place D’Youville

There are classics that we never get tired of. In the magnificent setting of Old Quebec, put on your skates to take to the skating rink at Place D’Youville, which takes on an even more enchanting character in the evening. Another legendary place to skate in Quebec, the Plains of Abraham ice ring offers skaters a loop of more than 350 meters. These two sites are refrigerated, which allows you to enjoy winter even when Mother Nature is capricious.
