This was announced by the studio Warner Bros. in this press release sent to the media Wednesday morning:
“Over the past few weeks, you’ve seen the cast and crew of Dune: Part Two meet fans around the world. Timothée was really looking forward to coming to Montreal to celebrate with all the movie buffs and fans of Dune, but unfortunately, he is ill just like some of the other actors in the film. They will therefore not be able to join Denis [Villeneuve] for the special screening of the film this evening [mercredi] to Montreal. Timothée is very disappointed to miss this event and sends you his best thoughts for this special evening.
“Denis will be there and is still looking forward to transporting the audience once again to Arrakis and showing why Dune: Part Two must be seen and experienced on the big screen.”
The Canadian premiere of Dune: Part Two takes place Wednesday evening at the Cineplex Odéon Banque Scotia. Director Denis Villeneuve, producer Tanya Lapointe and artistic director Patrice Vermette will be present at the event.
The film opens Thursday evening.
