The Scandinavian reindeer or Caribou
It is found in Lapland and North America. An emblematic species that appeals to both adults and children, with in particular the reference to Santa Claus which gives it a little magical side.
Woods
Reindeer, male and female, have antlers not horns.
These woods have a cycle. They will fall off and grow back. During regrowth, the wood will be vascularized which gives it a slightly red appearance. To protect them, they will be covered with a velvet. Then the velvet will fall. We will also see the reindeer scratching against the trees to make this velvet fall. The antlers will dry out and the reindeer will have beautiful antlers for the slab period.
The plume of the males falls at the beginning of winter and that of the females in the spring. As a result, Santa’s reindeer are all girls!!!
Hooves
While walking, the reindeer will make a noise that will allow individuals to identify and “geolocate” themselves.
The reindeer is a vulnerable species
The reindeer is a domestic species and is also hunted.
4 reindeer live in the animal park of Auvergne. To meet Garou, the male, Lilou and Gabi, the 2 females and the youngest, born in 2021 Elisabeth, just go to house 39.
