3 million French people cannot afford a mutual because on average, you have to pay 890 euros per year. To reduce costs, there are municipal mutuals. 4,000 municipalities have already implemented this system, as is the case in Reims (Marl).

At Reims (Marl)approximately 15,000 inhabitants are not covered by complementary health insurance and those who have one find that it is very expensive. “I pay 143 euros per month so see the year”, says a lady. To overcome the problem, there has been a communal mutual fund set up by the city for several months. She negotiated preferential rates with complementary health insurance.

Agnès Rocher, 90, comes to find out about this mutual because her husband has just entered a nursing home. By playing the competition, she thus earns around 30 euros per month. “I have a lot of people today who are in financial precariousness and who need to save money and casually, even 30 or 40 euros is shopping, it has value”, explains Lydia Martin, Just mutual advisor. Last year, a quarter of French people gave up treatment because the price was too high.
