Regine’s funeral: Marc Lavoine and his ex-wife Sarah Poniatowski reunited, in emotion

This Monday, May 9, 2022 is a sad new day for those close to Régine. A week after his death at the age of 92, his funeral was celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at the crematorium of the Père-Lachaise cemetery, Salle de la Coupole, in Paris. On this occasion, many personalities have made the trip to pay tribute to the queen of the night.

Among the many people who wished to say goodbye to the iconic singer and actress was Marc Lavoine. During the ceremony, the member of the jury of The Voice met many familiar faces there, including that of his ex-wife Sarah Poniatowski (49 years old), the mother of his children Yasmine (24 years old), Roman (15 years old) and Milo (11 years old), who was at the side of his sister Marie Poniatowski. That didn’t stop the exes from exchanging a few words. The two were married in May 1995. But the 59-year-old singer and the interior designer divorced after 23 years of marriage. Despite everything, they remained on good terms as he had specified during an interview for TV Star : “I can tell you that when you’ve loved someone for twenty-four years and you have three children, love moves. He’s not in the same place, but he’s still there. What would be horrible is to get angry. A real defeat. Our responsibility is to remain a family no matter what.

United in pain, Marc Lavoine and Sarah Poniatowski thus paid a last tribute to Régine, who died on May 1st. “Régine left us peacefully on May 1 at 11 a.m.” in Paris, had announced to AFP his granddaughter, Daphné Rotcajg. His close friend Pierre Palmade had confided to him: “The queen of the night is leaving: closure due to a long and great career.“The icon of the 1960s indeed had a beautiful and long career. She notably owned no less than 22 nightclubs around the world that bore her first name, including the legendary Chez Régine near the Champs-Elysées, which quickly became the meeting place for all of Paris and the jet-set. “The President of the Republic and his wife salute a great figure of Parisian nightlife and French song. They address to his family, to all those who have danced at Régine, to all the French people who like to sing his songs, their heartfelt condolences“, had written in particular the services of Emmanuel Macron.

It was not in a hearse but in a black carriage drawn by two imposing horses that the wooden coffin of the deceased was transported. A choice which may surprise but which is ultimately not so surprising given Régine’s personality.
