As fighting still rages in the Donbass, refugees are leaving the eastern front to seek refuge in other parts of Ukraine.

It is in Dnipro in Ukraine that families from Donbass have found refuge. Supported by an association, these refugees who fled the bombings and the Russians are housed in a former hospital.

For some of these families who stayed until the last moment, exile remained the ultimate solution for a long time: “We didn’t want to leave. But a shell fell nearby and we had no choice, it was too dangerous. The Russians came to our house, they are occupying our town”says a refugee.

Some, however, remain inconsolable and regret their former lives. Living conditions remain difficult because they are often housed in a tiny room. “Thanks to the volunteers who help us, we don’t live too badly”however, testifies a grateful mother.

These volunteers are ready to help in the long term these refugees who have lost everything and who will not be able to return home even at the end of the war. Nearly 50 women and children are accommodated in this former hospital while 160 other people are expected in the coming weeks.
