Referendum: 62% of Albertans want equalization removed from the Canadian Constitution

The final results of the referendum on equalization in Alberta show that nearly 62% of those who voted want the principle of equalization no longer enshrined in the Canadian Constitution.

A second referendum question, which asked Albertans if they wanted to maintain “daylight saving time” year-round, was beaten to the razor’s edge at 50.1%.

These referendums were held a week ago, at the same time as the municipal and school elections in Alberta.

Further details will follow.
