Like every Monday, the 13 Heures takes you to discover French initiatives. Monday, October 2, head to Landes to discover an association that recycles hearing aids to help the most deprived.

My idea for France is to recover, recycle, and rehabilitate hearing aids for people in very precarious situations.says Carole Ercoleco-leader of the association. It all starts with a visit to the hearing care professional. Marie-Annick changed her devices recently, she comes to refine the settings. Hearing is a necessity for this retiree. “Otherwise we isolate ourselves, we are all alone in our corner”she specifies. Uborn hearing aid costs more than 1,000 euros. Used devices are therefore not thrown away, they are put in a box to be reused.

Recycle for people without coverage

Recycling is carried out in Yzosse (Landes) at the headquarters of the Audition Solidarity association. Each year, more than 16,000 devices are analyzed primarily by ear. “In terms of noise, it doesn’t have a robotic noise, there is no distortion, it doesn’t hurt the ear”, examines an employee. The target audience is people without real medical coverage.

In the cupboards of the French, there are many treasures, such as smartphones which can be recycled. If the cell phone is still in good condition, it is possible to sell it, or it is possible to give it as a gift on the jedonnemontelephone.org platform.
