Reception of migrants, rail transport in France and “rail pass”, union of the left… Carole Delga’s “8h30 franceinfo”

The president of the Occitanie region was the guest of “8h30 franceinfo”, Saturday September 16, 2023.

The PS president of the Occitanie region, Carole Delga, was the guest of “8h30 franceinfo” Saturday September 16, 2023. Asked about the reception of migrants, rail transport, the union of the left or even rail transport burden of France’s debt, she responded to Jean-Rémi Baudot and Agathe Lambret.

Rail transport: “The French State must be up to the task, like the German State”

“The French state must be up to the task like the German state”, believes Carole Delga. On September 4, Emmanuel Macron said to himself “favorable to creating a Rail Pass on the existing model in Germany”. During this interview given to the online media HugoDecrypte, the Head of State added : “All the regions which are ready to do it with the State, banco!”. Across the Rhine, this subscription costs 49 euros per month.

As president of the Regions of France, Carole Delga has “responded to the President of the Republic, the day after his announcement” to inform him that the regional councils were “ready to work”. Nevertheless, she insisted on “remind” that “the rail pass already exists in France. Several regions are putting systems in place.” The elected official takes the example of the region she presides over. In Occitania, “employees pay a maximum of one euro for the journey. Those under 26 go free.” The region has introduced one euro train tickets on the first weekend of each month.

European elections: “Raphaël Glucksmann would be a very good head of the list”

“I think Raphaël Glucksmann would be a very good head of the list”, believes Carole Delga. The Place publique MEP announced on Wednesday that he was standing for re-election in the European elections in June 2024. Raphaël Glucksmann wishes to form an alliance with the Socialist Party, as in 2019. For the moment, nothing has been decided between the center-left movement Public square and the Socialist Party but Carole Delga “wish he will once again be at the head of this left-wing union list”.

The PS president of the Occitanie region believes that this union of the left is necessary “Of course”. Nevertheless, “if the left wants to win, it must be deeply republican, it must reassure and it must stop giving lessons to everyone and being a threat to ways of life.”

The elected socialist believes that the “Nupes only exists in the National Assembly” and assures that “when you go to the territories, no one talks to you about it”.
