After the media support of several players (Neymar, Mbappé …) and the International Football Federation (Fifa), via a press release from its president Gianni Infantino, Real Madrid decided to place the debate at the judicial level. The Madrid club announced on Monday May 22 that it had filed a complaint with the Spanish public prosecutor’s office after the racist insults suffered by its Brazilian striker Vinicius on Sunday in Valencia.
“Real Madrid condemns the events that took place yesterday [dimanche] against our player Vinicius Junior and opposes it vigorously”wrote the merengue club, which decided to file this complaint so that a “investigation be opened” on these insults which legally constitute, according to the club, a “hate crime”. “These facts constitute a direct attack on our model of coexistence of our social and democratic State of law”insists Real Madrid.
