While denouncing the inaction of the Caquiste government that it wishes to remedy, the left-wing political party is proposing a plan for first-time buyers to protect them from the speculative frenzy that does not seem to be fading.

The QS plan includes several measures including the establishment of a tax on real estate speculation to be returned to the municipalities to be paid into a fund dedicated to the construction of social housing.

QS also wishes to reduce the deadline for filing an offer to purchase, limit the commission of real estate brokers and establish transparency in offers to purchase and the obligation of an inspection before a possible purchase.

“For three years, François Legault has let speculation explode and he has let the market exclude the first buyers without lifting a finger,” said Andrés Fontecilla, spokesperson for Quebec solidaire in matters of Housing, in a press release.

“The CAQ missed the last opportunity it had before the next election to show people that it is there to defend them. On October 3, people will remember that the CAQ made fine promises, but that it did not deliver the goods,” added Mr. Fontecilla.
