Readers’ place | What did you think of Bye bye 2021?

Again, the Bye has established itself as the unmissable event of the year. But did the show piloted by Simon-Olivier Fecteau save your end of the year as it did for our columnist Hugo Dumas? Here is our analysis (not at all scientific) of the probe launched to our readers.

It goes !

the Bye will no longer be the Bye when he will have stopped dividing… Nevertheless, a majority of readers who answered our call to all liked, even adored, the edition concocted by Simon-Olivier Fecteau and his team. Of the 208 respondents in favor of the show, over 20 described it as one of the best Bye for a long time, even as one of the best period. “It was done with intelligence! […] It’s a Bye who has done good. Best ever, and I’m 52! »Hélène Ruel wrote to us. “A frenzied opening which set the stage for a festive program. The pace was good and very few (barely) weak moments. […] The sketches were polished, all supported by actors at the top of their game. […] Simon-Olivier Fecteau has found the recipe for success, ”said another reader, Mario Guérin. Many respondents pointed out how much the program (and the evening of the 31st on ICI Radio-Canada Télé in general) had done them good at this difficult end of the year. “I have completely forgotten Omicron”, summarized Manon Théroux.

Patrick Huard’s appearance as Dan Marino from Dégât Fitness hit the mark.

Readers who appreciated the show (and even the most critical) praised the work of the actors and the surprise appearances that dotted the 2021 edition. Among the “regular” actors, it’s no surprise Guylaine Tremblay who s ‘attracts the most praise, especially for his imitation of Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge. “The new Dodo of Bye ? », Asks Gil Duhamel. Sarah-Jeanne Labrosse also gave a remarkable performance according to several respondents, in particular for her incarnation of Hubert Lenoir. Among the guests, Patrick Huard hit the mark in his personification of Dan Marino, from the Dégât Fitness gym (even some respondents who hated the Bye praised his skit). Several readers have underlined the pleasure they took in seeing Claude Legault (“exceptional in Denis Coderre”, considers Danyelle Barrette). And if the Martin Matte and Bruno Blanchet have cheered up the company, the return of Rock and Belles Oreilles to Bye divided the respondents (who is surprised?).

Vulgarity and coronations

The sketch of Monsieur Patate, with its long enumeration of genitals, is part of the vulgar vein which displeased the detractors of the show.

Conversely, 114 readers did not appreciate the Bye. A good twenty of them cited coronations and vulgarity to motivate their response. “It seems to me that this is the first time that I have heard so many coronations on Radio-Canada. And you ? », Asked the reader Serge Orzes. The sketch of Monsieur Patate, with its long enumeration of genitals, was part of this vulgar vein which displeased the detractors of the show. The parody of James Bond with Alec Baldwin in the lead role went badly, if we are to believe our probe. “Absolutely out of place. Is it really funny to have a deceased person, an injured person and an actor completely defeated by an uncontrollable gesture? », Asked Jose Ranger, in reference to the drama which occurred on the set of the American film Rust. Forty readers expressed a more divided opinion, some preferring the other TV meetings from 31 to Bye. Several respondents deplored that the Bye has become a “festival of advertising and absurd announcements” (to use the words of one reader, Raymond Paradis). But even for those, a segment aired during the Bye unanimously: Mondou’s advertisement! Uh… well done for your great program?
