Terrorist attack near Moscow: reactions from the international community

Following the terrorist attack that occurred on Friday March 22 near Moscow, Emmanuel Macron expressed “France’s solidarity with all the Russian people”. The attack was also strongly condemned by Brussels, Berlin and Washington.
As soon as the attack was announced on Friday March 22, Russia denounced “bloody terrorist attack” and a monstrous crime, committed near its capital. All eyes were initially focused on Ukraine. A Ukrainian presidential adviser denied any involvement. “Ukraine has absolutely nothing to do with these events”he reacted, recalling that the country has not “never resorted to terrorist methods of warfare”.
The White House and the Élysée condemn the attack
The attack was claimed by the Islamic State group hours later. International reactions then continued throughout the evening. The White House said it stood alongside the victims of the terrible attack, also condemned “firmly” by the Élysée in a press release. Emmanuel Maron also said he followed “from close” the situation. UN Secretary-General António Guterres also condemned the attack, conveying his condolences to the grieving families.
