RCMP seize 156 kilos of cocaine near Montreal-Trudeau airport

Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) investigators are investigating the recent discovery of 156 kilograms of cocaine in a building near Montreal-Trudeau airport.

The drugs were concealed in metal heated food display counters which we understand had been welded, so the federal police had to call in Montreal firefighters who used their lifeguards to retrieve the cocaine.

It was in these counters opened by the Montreal firefighters that the drugs were found.

The seizure was also made with the help of a dog handler from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal.

The investigation into this seizure announced by the RCMP on its Twitter feed is being led by investigators from the Federal and Airport Investigations Detachment of C Division (Quebec).

According to sources, the drug was not intended for the Montreal market, but for Australia.

In Montreal, a kilogram of cocaine that hasn’t been cut currently sells for around $25,000 – it was worth $85,000 at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 – when it would trade for more than 300 US$000 in Australia.

In May, RCMP officials told The Press that, to compensate and make more money, criminal groups established in Quebec are now involved in exports to Europe and Australia, which does not mean that this is the case here.
