French coach Franck Haise leaves RC Lens to sign for Nice (Ligue 1), France Bleu Nord learned from the main interested party, confirming information from the Team. The owner of the northern club Joseph Oughourlian let Franck Haise leave for the Côte d’Azur in exchange for a check for two million euros, France Bleu also tells us. This is the sum proposed by Nice to buy out the three years of contracts that remained for the coach.
After four years on the bench of the Artésien club, Franck Haise marks the end of a great story with the Sang et Or, who returned to Ligue 1 and the Champions League under his orders.
According to information from France Bleu, Franck Haise made his decision several weeks ago. He had also informed his president Joseph Oughourlian several months ago of his desire not to spend another year in Pas-de-Calais, even if it meant taking a sabbatical.
At 53, the Normandy coach will tackle a new challenge with the Niçois in Ligue 1 and the Europa League, which they will compete in thanks to their fifth place obtained this season. OGC Nice therefore only waited five days before finding the replacement for the Italian Francesco Farioli, who left for Ajax Amsterdam after one season.
Franck Haise was very popular on the coaching market thanks to his excellent results with Lens, who he took to second place in the championship at the end of an extraordinary last season, defying all predictions.
Other architects of recent good Lens seasons could also leave: the general director of the club Arnaud Pouille is also announced to be leaving.
