(Jacksonville) Lamar Jackson threw a touchdown pass and made the play of the game when he avoided a quarterback sack before throwing the ball to Isaiah Likely near the goal line, and the Baltimore Ravens beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 23-7, Sunday night.
With this victory, the Ravens secured a spot in the playoffs. The team has won eight of its last nine games.
Gus Edwards had a rushing touchdown for the Ravens (11-3), who have won four straight games.
The Jaguars (8-6) lost a third straight game, all against teams in the American Association North Division.
Trevor Lawrence fumbled the ball twice in the game, including once in the fourth quarter.
However, this victory was costly for the Ravens.
Promising freshman running back Keaton Mitchell injured his left knee early in the fourth quarter. Mitchell gave a thumbs up as he left the field in a cart.
The Ravens also lost tackle Ronnie Staley (concussion) and safety Marcus Williams (groin).
Jackson threw for 171 yards, including 70 to Likely, in addition to rushing for 97 yards. Edwards added 58 more yards on the ground, while Mitchell put up 73 before leaving the game.
Lawrence finished the game with 264 passing yards, including a 65-yard touchdown pass to Jamal Agnew.
The Jaguars had four chances to score in the first half, but were unable to capitalize on any of them.
The team rushed for 181 yards in the first half, the highest total in the league this season for a team with no points.
Brandon McManus missed two field goals from beyond 50 yards and Lawrence lost the ball at the Ravens’ 18-yard line. Lawrence simply lost this one while rushing on a third down and 17 yards.
