Raspberry time, the new series initiated and directed by Philippe Falardeau, will have its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival next month. This will be the filmmaker’s third participation in Mr. Lazhar at the prestigious international event.

Written by Florence Longpré (Can you hear me ?) and Suzie Bouchard (eye of the storm), raspberry time will close the Berlinale Series on February 16; this is the section of the film festival that offers a premiere of creative and original television works.
“I am very touched, the Berlinale is a festival dear to me,” commented Philippe Falardeau in a press release. “The authors and I wanted to create a work that could travel. This selection is a real gift. I am proud of the work of its craftsmen who were able to infuse the series with a real cinematographic significance. »

Toured last summer Raspberry time stars Sandrine Bisson, Edison Ruiz, Micheline Lanctôt, Elijah Patrice and Paul Doucet. The 10-episode series is produced by Trio Orange, in collaboration with Quebecor Content. It will be broadcast in Quebec on the Club illico platform starting April 14.
Two other Canadian selections
The Press also learned that two Canadian shorts are part of the Berlinale program which will begin on February 10. An animated film by Terril Calder, produced by the NFB, entitled Meneath: The Hidden Island of Ethics was selected in the category “ Generation 14 plus ». It is also a return to Berlin for the Toronto filmmaker, of Métis origin, because her animated short SNIP was screened at the festival in 2016.
Finally, the short film Lay Me by the Shore, by David Findlay, will also be entitled to a world premiere in Berlin in this same category, which offers young audiences a diversified offer of innovative and non-traditional stories.
