(Toronto) Facing the underprivileged Warriors, the Toronto Raptors posted an easy 119-100 win over Golden State on Saturday.
Fred VanVleet had 27 points for the Raptors, who led by 21 points at the half.
The gap grew to 29 points late in the third quarter, after Toronto scored 10 in a row.
The Warriors are punchy 24-6. Several players who built this performance were not available on Saturday, however.
Stephen Curry, Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole, Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala missed the game.
Curry was getting a break. He collected 30 points on Friday, in a tough win in Boston. On Tuesday at Madison Square Garden, he became the NBA record holder for career three-pointers.
Wiggins has a sore left knee. Poole is on the sidelines due to the league’s COVID-19 protocol.
Curry (27), Torontonian Wiggins (18.7) and Poole (17.9) are the Warriors’ top three scorers. Green is bored on the right hip and Iguodala on the right knee.
The Scotiabank Arena was the final stop on a five-game trip for Golden State (a loss to Philadelphia then wins in Indiana, New York and Boston, before Saturday).
“I’m just glad we got off to a good start in each of the halves,” said Raptors coach Nick Nurse. We haven’t had a big slowdown. ”
Pascal Siakam and Dalano Banton are on the sidelines in connection with NBA protocol regarding COVID-19, the Raptors announced ahead of the game.
“We went through this kind of thing last season,” said VanVleet. We stay focused and control what we can.
“The only thing that’s constant is that things won’t be constant. Everyone is in the same boat. We try to stay positive. Siakam (19.1) is the team’s third best scorer.
OG Anunoby was back after missing 13 games with a left hip injury. Leader of his team with 20 points per game, he was satisfied with seven points against the Warriors.
Precious Achiuwa had to miss the call (right shoulder), but he had a night of 17 points. “OG looked great and that’s a good sign,” said Nurse. He and Precious were moving well on the pitch. ”
Scottie Barnes had 21 points, Yuta Watanabe 12, Chris Boucher 11 and Gary Trent 10. The latter also had four steals.
Khem Birch was absent in an 11e match in a row (right knee). For the Warriors, the most productive player was Jonathan Kuminga, author of 26 points.
The Raptors will now prepare to host the Magic on Monday night.
