Raptors lose to Bucks in overtime

(Toronto) Giannis Antetokounmpo had 30 points as the Milwaukee Bucks prevailed 104-101 in overtime in Toronto on Wednesday in a game where the Raptors missed their first 15 shots.

The Raptors put the suspense on with an 18-2 push in the final 1:50 in the fourth quarter, with a three-point shot from Gary Trent tying the score 97-97, in the last second.

With 10.8 seconds on the clock in overtime, Antetokounmpo rushed to the basket before spotting Grayson Allen in the distance, who scored for three points. The Raptors’ last chance went to Fred VanVleet, but his shot missed the mark.

The day after a career-high 55 points, Antetokounmpo also had 21 rebounds and 10 assists.

Allen totaled 16 points. Backup Bobby Portis provided 14 points for the Bucks, who had lost their last four games on the road.

NBA blocks leader Brook Lopez added two more, also picking up 19 rebounds and nine points.

Pat Connaughton did a lot of damage with five shots from long distance, scoring his 15 points that way.

VanVleet led the Raptors with 28 points, six more than Trent. NBA steals leader OG Anunoby had four more on a night of 14 points.

Pascal Siakam scored 11 points – his smallest contribution of the season.

Very disjointed, the first quarter ended 13-12 in favor of Milwaukee. In addition to the Raptors’ miserable start, the Bucks have missed 14 shots there in a row.

At the half, the visitors had a slim one-point lead, 39-38.

Surprisingly, the Raptors were still in the game after three quarters, trailing four points.

Antetokounmpo set the tone early in the final quarter. In 3:12, he had four free throws and a three-point shot, putting his own in control.

The Bucks’ lead grew to 95-79, before the Raptors fired back.

The Bucks’ second-scoring Jrue Holiday had some respite as he played Tuesday after a three-game absence for an unspecified medical reason.

Star player Khris Middleton is sidelined with right knee issues.

This season he has only played in the first half of December, taking part in seven matches.

The Raptors were entering a six-game home stint, their longest of its kind this season. The Knicks will be the next visitors on Friday.

Toronto will also host the Blazers, Hornets (twice) and Hawks during the streak.
