Raptors beat Wizards 130-122

Immanuel Quickley scored twice and the Toronto Raptors beat the Washington Wizards 130-122 on Sunday.

Quickley finished the game with 31 points, a career high this season, 13 assists and seven rebounds for Toronto, who signed a second straight victory.

Ontarian RJ Barrett collected 22 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the Raptors (25-53). British Columbian Kelly Olynyk had 21 points and nine rebounds.

Barrett and Quickley returned to the Raptors lineup Tuesday in a 128-111 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Raptors leaders Gary Trent Jr. and Bruce Brown were active for Sunday’s duel. A series of injuries during the month of March ended the team’s hopes of making the playoffs.

Deni Avdija, Jordan Poole and Patrick Baldwin also recorded doubles for the Wizards (15-64), who lost a third game in a row. Avdija had 32 points and 10 rebounds, Poole had 29 points and 12 assists while Baldwin had 16 points and 10 rebounds as a substitute.

Even if the playoff picture in the Eastern Association is determined, the final ranking matters to the Raptors.

The Toronto squad must have the sixth worst record in the NBA to keep their first-round pick for the next draft. The lottery, scheduled for May 12, could also knock the Raptors out of the bottom six teams, which would mean the San Antonio Spurs would get back a first-round pick to complete last year’s trade involving Jakob Poeltl.

Torontonians have a 37.2% chance of climbing into the top-4 picks in the next draft and a 9% chance of being selected first overall.
