Rapper Tory Lanez to stand trial for shooting Megan Thee Stallion

(Los Angeles) Canadian rapper Tory Lanez will stand trial for shooting singer Megan Thee Stallion in the feet after a drunken party in Hollywood, a Los Angeles court ruled on Tuesday.

The hip-hop star was in a car with Tory Lanez during the incident in June 2020. They were returning from a party hosted by Kylie Jenner when they got into a fight.

According to the account given in court by an investigator, Megan Thee Stallion demanded to get out of the car. It was then that Tory Lanez would have shouted at him “dance, bitch” before shooting him in the feet with a pistol.

Injured her feet and bleeding profusely, the singer fell to the ground and crawled to a nearby house.

The Canadian rapper, who said he was drunk at the time of the facts, then apologized and offered to accompany Megan Thee Stallion home. According to his testimony to investigators, Tory Lanez offered him money to remain silent about this incident.

The singer, who initially did not want to publicize the case, had been hospitalized and doctors had removed several bullet fragments from her. She told police fragments remained in her feet and that she was in pain when wearing certain models of shoes.

Investigators had discovered four cartridge cases at the scene of the incident.

Tory Lanez, 29, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, denies any responsibility in the matter.

He even mentions the facts in his album Daystar, asking in a song how someone can get ‘shot in the feet’ without ‘any bones or tendons being affected’.

Currently on bail, the rapper is charged with assault with a semi-automatic weapon and carrying an unregistered firearm. He faces a sentence of more than 22 years in prison if convicted.
