(New York) American rapper Fetty Wap was arrested by federal police Thursday in New York on drug-related charges, a police source said on Friday.
The 30-year-old artist, real name William Junior Maxwell II, was arrested by the FBI on Thursday afternoon and is due in court later today on Friday, according to the same source.
The arrest took place in the area of Citi Field baseball stadium in the Queens borough, which is frequently used as the location for New York festivals.
Fetty Wap was to perform Thursday at the Rolling Loud festival.
No details were given by the police on the charges against the rapper who rose to prominence with his success Trap queen released in 2014.
This is not the first time that the artist has come into conflict with the law. Accused of assaulting three hotel employees, Fetty Wap was arrested by police in 2019. He was also charged with drunk driving in 2017.
