Rapper André 3000 launches into New Age… and reaches the Billboard Hot 100

Rapper André 3000 has just broken a record by reaching the Billboard Hot 100 chart with a 12-minute, 20-second long song. But that’s not all: it’s a song… on a flute. New Age, on top of that.

Founder of the hip-hop group OutKast, André 3000, whose real name is André Benjamin, has accustomed the public to resounding global successes, such as Ms. Jackson And Hey Ya.

Here he is again with a, how shall I put it, different song. The title is appropriate – also long. I Swear, I Really Wanted to Make a ‘Rap’ Album But This Is Literally the Way the Wind Blew Me This Timewhich can be translated as: I swear, I really wanted to make a rap album, but this is literally the way the wind carried me this time.

The New Age music track reached position 90 – the longest ever to appear on the magazine’s famous chart Billboard. He downgraded the song as well Fear Inoculumby Tool, which was only 10 minutes and 21 seconds long.

Released in November, André 3000’s new instrumental album, New Blue Sunclimbs to first position on the New Age albums chart of Billboard. The equivalent of 24,000 albums were sold in the United States in the first week after its release.
