Raphaël Glucksmann is accused by pro-Chinese accounts on social networks of being a CIA agent in Europe.

Raphaël Glucksmann, head of the PS-Place Publique aux Européennes list, was the victim of a disinformation campaign targeting him on social networks, coming from accounts linked to China. Disinformation linking Raphaël Glucksmann to the CIA has been around for many years, but has resurfaced on social networks in recent weeks. Rumors relayed by the extreme right as well as by representatives of the radical left.

Banned from traveling to China

The politician is in Beijing’s crosshairs for his commitment to the Uyghur Muslim minority. He was sanctioned for this in 2021 by China, which notably banned him from traveling on its soil. Raphaël Glucksmann was also the advisor to Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, from the blitzkrieg between this small Caucasian country and Russia in 2008, until the electoral defeat of 2012.
