Raphaël Glucksmann is third on the podium in the polls for the European elections, very far from Jordan Bardella, and still clearly behind the head of the Macronist list Valérie Hayer, even if the gap has narrowed, from five to nine points, according to surveys. However, he is clearly ahead of his communist, Green and rebellious competitors.

For the moment, this pole position on the left is enough for his happiness, and that of the socialists. 9 to 13% voting intentions, it has been a very long time since they were at such a party. Raphaël Glucksmann made the hole on the left, while two years ago, Anne Hidalgo took the Socialists to the bottom of the hole, with 1.75% of the votes. And the proof that Glucksmann is progressing is that he has become a target.

A “divisor” for LFI

And first to the left. It is above all Jean-Luc Mélenchon and his lieutenants who are firing on all cylinders… red, obviously, by accusing him pell-mell of being, a “divider” Who “is only there to prevent popular unity”, “a go-to-war” in Ukraine which “deserves a crushing defeat”or even a “sad character”guilty of “complacency with the Netanyahu government” because he refuses to qualify as “genocide” the situation of Palestinians in Gaza.

Raphaël Glucksmann is not to be outdone. He charges Mélenchon: “pseudo pacifist” who rides for Putin and works “to the defeat of democracies” by refusing to support Ukraine. And he says to himself “revolt” by the indulgence of the rebels towards Hamas which they refuse to qualify as “terrorists”. In short, by ratifying the death of Nupes, the Glucksmann candidacy also marks the return of the two irreconcilable lefts.

Close to original macronism

Because Glucksmann’s left is resolutely pro-European and environmentalist. She is also quite Parisian and elitist. He himself beat his guilt a few years ago by admitting to being “culturally” more comfortable in New York or London than in the Picardy countryside. A reformism, ultimately not so far from the original macronism. Raphaël Glucksmann admits to voting at 80% like the Renaissance deputies in the European Parliament. It remains to be seen which of these two lists will appear as the most “useful” vote, the strongest barrier for voters keen to resist the rise of the far right on June 9.
