Raoul Barré Prize | New support for the animation filmmakers of tomorrow

Animation is on the move: a new partnership has been forged between the Raoul-Barré Foundation, seeking to perpetuate the legacy of this multidisciplinary Quebec artist from the early 20the century, and the Cinémathèque québécoise.

The first will provide $20,000 over five years to allow the second to finance the holding of the Animation Film Summits, organized every year since 2002.

The prize awarded within the framework of this Montreal festival, awarded to the best Canadian student film, will henceforth be called the Raoul-Barré prize and will be accompanied by a $2,000 scholarship.

Painter, cartoonist, illustrator and pioneer of animation cinema in America, Raoul Barré marked the rise of this field thanks to innovative initiatives.

This year, the Animation Cinema Summits will be held from May 9 to 14.
