Rangers trade Ryan Reaves to the Wild

(Saint Paul) The New York Rangers traded tough guy Ryan Reaves to the Minnesota Wild for a 2025 fifth-round pick.


Reaves had been left out by Rangers in eight of their last 12 meetings. He will add muscle and experience to the Wild’s attacking group.

The 35-year-old Reaves is in the final year of a contract earning him an average annual salary of US$1.75 million. In 12 games with the Rangers this season, he hadn’t blacked out the scoresheet and had racked up 12 penalty minutes.

Reaves played 767 NHL games with the St. Louis Blues, Pittsburgh Penguins, Vegas Golden Knights and Rangers. He has 54 goals, 60 assists and 992 penalty minutes. He helped the Golden Knights reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 2017-18.
