(Green Bay) AJ Dillon had two rushing touchdowns and the Green Bay Packers defeated the Los Angeles Rams 24-12 on Monday night to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Dillon gave the Packers the lead for good (6-8) with an eight-yard run in the second quarter. He added a one-yard major in the third quarter.
Dillon had 36 yards on 11 carries before leaving the game to be assessed for a possible concussion.
Aaron Rodgers completed 22 of 30 passes for 229 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Aaron Jones. He was also the victim of an interception.
Rodgers won a Monday Night game for the ninth straight time. The longest such streak belongs to Kenny Stabler, who won 11 Monday Night games from 1975 to 1980.
Jones caught four passes for 36 yards and added 90 rushing yards for the Packers.
The Rams (4-10) tied the highest losing total by a defending Super Bowl champion. When John Elway announced his retirement after guiding the Broncos to back-to-back Super Bowl titles in 1997 and 1998, the Denver squad had gone 6-10 in 1999.
The Rams went into Monday’s game without several key players, including star defensive end Aaron Donald and star receiver Cooper Kupp. Quarterback Baker Mayfield made his first start for the Rams due to injuries to Matthew Stafford and John Wolford.
Mayfield helped the Rams come from behind to claim a 17-16 win over the Los Angeles Raiders on Dec. 8. Against the Packers, he completed 12 of 21 passes for 111 yards, including one touchdown pass and one interception.
